It is with the greatest of admiration for the visionary principle and all involved with OceanXplorer that we join in celebrating her unveiling to the world. Our seven year association with OceanX on their previous vessels, the 57mtr Alucia and 52mtr Umbra led to a requested involvement in the conversion and creation of OceanXplorer. The result is a combination and moulding of all the previous vessels features and more into one truly astounding ground breaking ship. After 22 months on site we are proud to have played our part in the start of what we believe will be an Oceanographic legacy. tūhura me te ngākau nui

OceanX recently launched its new one-of-a-kind scientific research, media production, and exploration vessel, the R/V OceanXplorer. Designed and built to be the most advanced combined marine research and media vessel in existence, OceanXplorer is both a floating, integrated marine research platform and a Hollywood-caliber media production studio.

Formerly named Alucia2, the ship builds on the legacy of OceanX’s first research vessel, the M/V Alucia, and will become the centerpiece of OceanX’s mission to combine cutting-edge technology, science, and media to explore the ocean and bring it back to the world. With its advanced, media-optimized exploration vehicles, its chemical, biological, and geophysical sampling tools, and its centralized data integration system and onboard media center, OceanXplorer brings together an unprecedented array of technologies that will make it possible to reach, explore, and document parts of the ocean humans have never before experienced.

Founded in 2018, OceanX is a New York-based nonprofit ocean exploration initiative and media organization that combines next-gen technology, science, storytelling, and media to educate, inspire, and connect the world with the ocean. OceanX amplifies these efforts by convening leading scientists, media entities, global leaders, and philanthropy partners to drive towards greater understanding and protection of our oceans.

OceanX is an initiative of Dalio Philanthropies, which furthers the diverse philanthropic interests of Dalio family members. For more information, visit www.oceanx.org and follow OceanX on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
